Growing Up

Transition to Toddler Bed and Excited Dance from Tricia Nguyen on Vimeo.

We have been toying with the idea of transitioning T's bed for quite some time now, but there was really no "reason" to do it. Most people seem to transition out of a crib because their child is potty training or climbing out of their crib. T is doing neither of these yet, in fact, the only time she has tried to climb on her bed at all was to climb in. We have just been feeling lately that she was ready and would enjoy the independence to be able to climb IN her bed whenever she wanted, we were right! She loved it immediately and was so happy to be able to get in all on her own. We also got her a small pillow because she seems to always have her smaller blanket wadded up under her head.

We were a bit nervous about putting her down for bed last night, but there was no reason to be. It took her a while to get settled with the addition of the pillow and the crib side missing, but she settled in well and didn't fall or get out until we went in to get her this morning! All night I felt just like I did the first night we put her in her room in her crib to sleep alone. I was worried about her all night and just wanted her to get a good night's sleep. She is such a big girl and we love her so much!

Yesterday was Father's Day, but this morning at breakfast she looked at Tuan and announced, "Happy Father's Day" two or three times. It was precious.

After watching entirely too much Thomas the Tank Engine she has added the words, "cross" and the phrase, "Bust my Buffers" to her ever growing vocabulary. Speaking of her vocabulary, we are currently working hard to get her to start saying "I am" instead of "My" (i.e. "My Sleepy"), and we are working hard on getting her to ask for things using please.

We were in quite a few stores this weekend and we feel so blessed that at least for now she is not a kid who asks for things, she loves looking at things in stores and seems to believe that they stay there. This makes it great if we are not in a hurry, it is like a museum or field trip for her so much to look for and no tantrums if she can't take it all home or get what she wants!

Turner had another swimming lesson this weekend too, she still loves the water so much, especially jumping in from the side and does a really good job waiting until I tell her she can jump. She is also really good at climbing out of the pool. Here is a video that Tuan took this weekend, the password is swim.
